After a previous hung jury in June 2025 and another in May, Khaleb Edmonds, 26, is set to stand trial once again for a double homicide.
Edmonds is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and three firearm violations in connection to the fatal shootings of two 26-year-old men; Myron White and Darius Hill on Aug. 24, 2023 in Mondawmin.
Jury selection began on Sept. 16 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan Lazerow.
According to charging documents, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on the 2200 block of W. North Avenue. Upon arrival police found the first victim in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a gunshot wound to the head and the second victim was lying on the ground on the 1800 block of N. Smallwood Street with a gunshot wound to the torso. Both victims died from their injuries.
Crime lab technicians recovered 13 9mm cartridge casings along with other evidence from the scene. Surveillance footage allegedly captured Edmonds’ movements leading up to the incident, as well as his firing of multiple gunshots at the victims after White swerved his vehicle through a red light. Edmonds was also allegedly captured fleeing the scene and positively identified as a suspect via footage.
During the trial in May, the prosecution argued that the defendant was seen with a firearm on surveillance footage, and intended to kill Hill but in the process fatally shot White. The prosecutor also pointed out DNA evidence from a chair outside of a nearby bar where the shooting occurred.
Defense attorney Staci Pipkin discredited the prosecution’s DNA evidence, stating that the defendant could have been in that chair at any point during the day. She also stressed that the surveillance images are not enough and the clothing used to identify the defendant was a common outfit. The trial concluded with a second hung jury.
Jury selection is underway and the third trial is set to continue through the week.
