Jury selection on Aug. 11 is underway for 19-year-old defendant Isaiah Andrew Stroup before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy.
Stroup is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, attempted armed carjacking, first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, conspiracy to armed robbery and conspiracy to carjacking and having a handgun in a vehicle.
Court documents indicate that on June 29 2025, Stroup and two other unidentified individuals attempted to rob and carjack two victims on the 2400 block of Bridgehampton Drive.
The suspects allegedly demanded the victims’ property, and the victims stepped out of an Acura MDX vehicle. One of the victims handed his car keys and Apple iPhone to one of the suspects. The other victim, a woman ,told the suspects she had nothing to give them.
One suspect attempted to take male victim’s Acura and he tried to stop the suspect. During the altercation, the victim was shot in the face after which all three suspects fled.
He was taken to the hospital by the female victim in critical condition.
Before jury selection the defendant rejected a plea offer from the state for 50 years suspending all but 30.
Trial set to continue on Aug 12.
