Baltimore City Circuit Court proceedings continued on Nov. 18 in the case of LaForrest Morgan, 47, as parties ultimately completed jury selection following a one-day delay caused by a shortage of available jurors.
Morgan is facing 13 charges across two cases, including attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, and multiple gun violations. The charges stem from a robbery-turned-shooting that occurred last June in West Baltimore’s Penn North neighborhood on the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, where a 27-year-old man was injured.
Charging documents state Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to the incident on June 28, 2024, after receiving reports of gunfire during a robbery. The victim, a 27-year-old male, had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators later identified Morgan as a primary suspect and arrested him on July 16, 2024.
The case was delayed the day prior, on Nov. 17, due to an acute lack of jurors from which to select a 12-person panel. With enough prospective jurors available on Nov. 18, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey M. Geller seated a full jury with alternates.
Proceedings are expected to continue later this week.
