Jury Selection Begins in Fells Point Assault Case

Jury selection began March 4 in the case of Christopher Peacock, 34, who stands accused of attempting to shoot a man in the head at a Fells Point apartment complex last summer.

Peacock is charged with attempted murder, assault, firearm use, reckless endangerment and three more gun violations for the assault, which occurred shortly before noon on July 20, 2025

Prior to jury selection, the assistant state’s attorney informed the court of three jail calls she plans to introduce at trial, without further explanation.

Prosecutors also placed a plea offer on the record of 25 years, suspending all but 10 years for first-degree assault, along with a concurrent five-year sentence without parole for use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. The offer also included no contact with the victim and registration as a gun offender upon release. Defense attorney Augustine Okeke rejected the offer on Peacock’s behalf.

Charging documents state that on July 20, 2025, at approximately 11:52 a.m., Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a call for an aggravated assault at an apartment on the 900 block of Fell Street

The victim told officers he had been visiting a friend when he saw a man he knew as “Chris,” later identified as Peacock, allegedly holding a gun. The victim attempted to warn others about the armed individual, which prosecutors say caused Peacock to become upset.

Peacock then reportedly pointed the gun at the victim’s head and pulled the trigger, but the firearm did not discharge and the magazine fell to the ground. The victim said Peacock then reinserted the magazine and fired a shot toward the floor, prompting him and other occupants to flee the apartment.

Officers secured the residence and reportedly located two live .22-caliber cartridges in the living room, along with a white plate containing a rock-and-powder substance believed to be cocaine and a rolled dollar bill with residue.

Apartment employees told officers a white 2023 Polestar electric vehicle with New York tags was associated with the apartment’s occupants.

While leaving the area, detectives observed the vehicle on the 1700 block of Thames Street, approximately two to three blocks from the original incident. Detectives identified a person said to be Peacock sitting in the front seat and took him into custody without incident.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a black Firefly GSG .22-caliber handgun with six live rounds inside a black satchel on the driver’s side floorboard, as well as one live round in Peacock’s pocket. Peacock is not prohibited from owning a firearm.

Investigators reported that no bullet holes were located inside the apartment. However, officers conducted door-to-door checks in neighboring units to ensure no residents were injured when the firearm was discharged.

The case is expected to proceed to trial as jury selection begins.
