A Baltimore City jury found David Clemons guilty on multiple firearm and violent crime charges stemming from a non-fatal shooting outside a West Baltimore liquor store last summer. The defendant has an extensive criminal history.
Clemons was convicted Jan. 16 after a four-day trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony F. Vittoria.
A jury found Clemons guilty of first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, firing and discharging a weapon, illegal possession of ammunition, reckless endangerment and two other firearms-related charges.
As previously reported, the case stems from a June 15, 2025, altercation outside Washington Bar Liquors on the 2500 block of Washington Boulevard and a nearby restaurant where an argument between the two escalated into a physical fight.
Prosecutors said Clemons later returned with a prohibited handgun and fired eight shots at the victim, who fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.
Court documents state Clemons prior convictions barring gun possession include illegal possession of ammunition in 2022, armed robbery in 2010 and drug possession with the intent to distribute in 2006.
Surveillance footage shown at trial captured the shooting and highlighted the shooter’s limp, which the prosecutor argued was consistent with Clemons’ infirmity.
Sentencing is scheduled to take place at a later date.
