Tensions filled Baltimore City Circuit Court on Sept. 16, as jurors returned for a second day of deliberations and finally rang the bell, indicating a verdict had been reached, just before courts closed.
The jury found 20-year-old Alexis Cancel-Soto guilty on multiple counts for the October 27, 2024 Federal Hill shooting that left 19-year-old Cameran Holt dead on West Hamburg Street in the early morning hours. The trial began with jury selection on Sept. 9.
The jury returned guilty verdicts on eight of the 10 counts against Cancel-Soto, including first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and four separate firearm counts tied to possession and use of a gun during a violent felony.
Two counts were left without verdicts, including attempted second-degree murder and a first-degree assault charge.
Cancel-Soto is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 3. The trial for his co-defendants Daeshaun Clark, 28, and Devontaye Richardson, 29, is set to begin in October.
