Jury Acquits Defendant of Fatal 2023 Southwest Baltimore Shooting

A jury acquitted a 26-year old Baltimore man on Sept. 22 of murdering Allante Alexander, 30, during a shooting in Southwest Baltimore over two years ago.

Darius Savoy was found not guilty of first-degree murder and assault, as well as three firearm violations in connection to the murder, which occurred April 13, 2023, on the 2000 block of W. Lexington Street. Jurors failed to reach a verdict on Savoy’s charges of firearm use in a felony violent crime and conspiracy.

Savoy and another man were accused of shooting at Alexander and an unnamed female from the passenger side window of a stolen 2010 black Audi Q7. The victims were sitting in Alexander’s parked 2018 black Honda Accord at the time, and the woman escaped unharmed.

Extensive review of surveillance footage from the incident led to the identification of Savoy, who was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sitting in the Audi’s front passenger seat.

The verdict followed a four day trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Catherine Chen.
