After over three years of court proceedings, 55-year-old Arnold Jackson received a trial date on April 6 for his alleged involvement in the shooting of two victims.
Jackson is charged with two counts each of attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, one count of reckless endangerment and four firearm offenses for the incident, which occurred on the 1600 block of Eutaw Place during the evening of March 23, 2023.
Charging documents describe how investigators responded to the scene to find two Black males with gunshot wounds. One exhibited a gunshot wound in his left arm, while the other had wounds to his torso, back and chest. Jackson, who uses an electric wheelchair, was allegedly caught on surveillance footage rolling away from the scene.
In April 2023, investigators interviewed the manager of Jackson’s apartment property on the 1000 block of Cathedral Street. The manager advised that Jackson was seen entering the apartment building with a revolver on his lap.
Though Jackson was deemed not fit to stand trial in July 2024, he has since been found competent and will be given accessibility accommodations while in court. Defense attorney Marci Johnson stated that she is skeptical regarding his mental fitness for trial.
Jackson is now set to stand trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays beginning June 15, with four days allotted for proceedings.
