A motion for joinder was scheduled in the case of Ritchie Hicks, who is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection to a Dec. 16, 2024 double shooting that occurred on the 1200 block of W. Baltimore Street.

The incident left Ricky Forehand dead and another man injured.

Detectives identified Hicks through surveillance footage and recovered evidence including clothing, a pink cellphone, and multiple shell casings. Hicks, who has a prior 2015 conviction for cocaine distribution, is also charged with first-degree assault and other gun-related offenses.

During the hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland, the prosecution offered Hicks a plea of life, suspending all but 60 years, for the murder charge, as well as five years’ probation. Hicks rejected the offer, which also included 20 concurrent years for the firearm and attempted first-degree murder charges.

Defense attorney Gregory Fischer, standing in for Natalie Finegar, noted that only a few body-worn camera videos remain to be redacted from evidence for trial, with the rest of discovery complete.

The joinder motion was set for Sept. 5 before Judge Nicole K. Barmore. If granted, Hicks’ trial will be rescheduled to a later date. Co-defendant Gregory Granger remains set  for Oct. 22 before Judge Barmore.
