Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn set a trial date for defendant Jameria Hall during reception court on Aug. 4 in connection to the Aug. 24, 2021 deaths of her two children.
Hall, 30, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death and having a deadly weapon in the intent to injure for the murder of six-year-old Da’Neria Thomas and eight-year-old Davin Thomas that occurred in the family’s home on the 500 block of Coventry Road.
Defense attorneys Deborah Levi and Mary Pizzo estimated the trial will last 10 days.
During reception court on Friday, they explained how they will need more opinions from experts and aren’t sure if this trial will decide whether Hall is guilty or criminally responsible for the murder of her children.
According to Baltimore Witness, Hall was found incompetent to stand trial in September 2021.
The Baltimore City Police Department was notified of the homicide after a maintenance employee reported a “foul smell” and found Davin’s decomposing body of in a sleeping bag with a knife stuck in his chest and a black trash bag tied around his head along Da’Neria’s body in the bathtub, according to Baltimore Sun.
Judge Phinn set the defendant’s trial date for Oct. 2.
