A Baltimore man charged with manslaughter rejected a plea of 10 years on Oct. 17 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Galen Hyman, 60, is charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter, and two counts of failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving death in connection to an incident on March 1, 2021.
According to WBAL TV, on March 1, 2021, Garrick Williams Jr, 38, and another man were struck by a car in a parking lot just outside the Shoppers Food store at Mondawmin Mall.
Hyman and his defense attorney Janet Andersen & Robert Cohen, rejected the plea, which included 10 years for vehicular manslaughter; 5 years, suspending all but time served, with five years supervised probation for failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving death.
Hyman’s trial is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2023 with Judge Barry G. Williams presiding. It is expected to last four days.
