Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial for a defendant charged with three counts of first-degree murder on April 11.

Prosecutors had no plea offer for defendant Shawn Brewton, as prosecutors needed to make sure that defense attorney Kenneth Man would still be Brewton’s counsel.

As stated in a court documents, officers responded to the 3500 block of W. Belvedere Avenue to address a report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as William Smith, was pronounced deceased after succumbing to his wounds at the hospital.

Brewton, 52, and his co-defendant Michael Corprew, 48, were both identified by the Homicide Unit (HU) as suspects in Smith’s death.

Judge Phinn pushed the hearing for Brewton on May 4.

Brewton is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of using a firearm in a felony violent crime, two counts of possessing a firearm with a felony conviction, having a loaded handgun on his person, and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle.
