A man accused of fatally stabbing 28-year-old James Brown in September 2020 was given a May trial date before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda Tanner.

Judge Melissa Phinn scheduled the trial of Jeramey Barron, 24, for May 15 during reception court on Jan. 9, following a private discussion between the prosecution and defense attorney Brandon Patterson.

Barron’s trial was previously postponed from a July 2022 trial date when a new prosecutor was assigned to the case.

On Sept. 5, 2020, Baltimore Police were called to Brown’s home on the 3800 block of Brooklyn Avenue around 12:40 a.m. for a stabbing, CBS Baltimore reported. Brown was found with multiple stab wounds and died from his injuries.

The report states that police learned Barron allegedly stabbed Brown after a dispute.
