Judge Schedules 2020 Evergreen Street Murder Retrial

On Oct. 12, a 43-year-old defendant appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn to schedule his retrial.

Keith Taylor is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person and firearm possession with a felony conviction in connection to the April 2020 murder of 23-year-old Jazzwind Kasif Fulton.

After a mistrial in April of this year and firing his public defender last week, Taylor has since retained private attorney Brandon Taylor to defend him.

Although the prosecutor has filed a motion to join the murder case with a new indictment for witness intimidation, a judge has not yet ruled on the motion. If a judge denies it, the murder trial will go first.

Judge Phinn scheduled Taylor’s trial to begin on March 6, 2024, before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on April 19, 2020, Fulton was attempting to steal catalytic converters on the 3600 block of Woodland Avenue when he was shot multiple times. Baltimore Police Department investigators suspected Taylor killed Fulton and drove his body to the 2300 block of Evergreen Street by matching his build and gait with that of the suspect seen on surveillance footage.
