A 53-year-old homicide defendant has trial rescheduled on Feb. 22 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Robert Sean Leonard Douglass is charged with first-degree murder, carjacking, second degree assault, car theft, unauthorized removal of property, reckless endangerment, and two counts of failure to stop at a scene in connection to an incident on March 2, 2021.
On Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the defendant’s defense attorney, Koryn High requested the case be moved over to mental health court for a competency check after the defendant had a stroke which made him unable to speak.
The trial was slated to begin on Feb. 22 but was postponed due to the suspension of jury selection with the rise of COVID-19 cases.
Douglass’ next hearing is scheduled for March 8.
