Judge Postpones Sentencing for Co-Defendant Convicted of Murdering 20-Year-Old

A defendant charged with first-degree murder had his sentencing postponed before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams on Feb. 10.

The defense counsel Catherine Flynn for the defendant Arthur Holt left the practice in January for the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office. The current defense attorney reassigned to the case was unable to schedule a visit to Holt, 29, until the night before the sentencing hearing.

Judge Williams granted a brief postponement for the new defense attorney to prepare with Holt for the sentencing hearing.

Holt’s next hearing is scheduled for March 13.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Holt is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident that occurred on April 6, 2020.

According to CSB News Baltimore, 20-year-old Dontrell Toliver was shot on the 400 block of North Montford Avenue on the day of the incident. Co-defendant Keith Gladden was arrested the next day, and Holt was arrested on April 20, 2022.

In March 2022, Gladden, 35, pleaded guilty and received a sentence of life, suspending all but 50 years with five years on probation for first-degree murder and ten years for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime.
In July 2022, a jury found Holt guilty of his charges.
