A first-degree murder defendant appeared for a mental health court hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Gale E. Rasin on March 1.
Defense attorney Craig Kadish informed the judge that Jamal Smith has yet to be admitted into the hospital where he will be evaluated.
Kadish requested an extension.
Smith, 43, was arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing of Robert Parker on the 1500 block of E. 28th Street on Jan 27, 2019.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Smith is charged with first-degree murder and intent to injure with a deadly weapon.
Judge Rasin postponed the hearing until April 12 pending the arrival of the defendant’s evaluation.
