A Baltimore man accused of stabbing a woman to death and leaving her body in a plastic container nearly two years ago was deemed incompetent to stand trial on June 8.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin informed counsel that the court’s Medical Services Division found Timothy Callanan, 28, incompetent to stand trial in connection to the fatal stabbing of 28-year-old Mason Moldoven on the 1100 block of Gorsuch Avenue in August 2020.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, Judge Rasin said medical services’ opinion states that Callanan is a danger to himself after which the judge signed an order committing the defendant to the Maryland Department of Health within 10 business days.
The defendant was scheduled for a status hearing in December and, if necessary, another status hearing in June 2023.
Callanan, who allegedly left the victim’s body in a plastic container, was arrested on Sept. 12, 2020, after a high-speed chase in Georgia and has been charged with first-degree murder.
He previously rejected a plea in October 2021.
