Two homicide cases were reviewed at the Baltimore City Circuit Court on May 12, one of which was pushed to August. The second homicide case remains in place for November, yet a counter plea offer is being discussed.

The defendant in the first murder case, Tyron Taylor, currently faces charges for first-degree murder, robbery and a felony charge for using a firearm during a violent crime on July 17, 2020. A plea offer of life, suspending all but 60 years, and five years probation was made on behalf of the state, but was not relayed to Taylor as of May 12.

Taylor’s trial is currently scheduled for Aug. 5.

According to an article from WBALTV in October 2020, Taylor was arrested alongside a juvenile after allegedly shooting a man on the 800 block of Low Street. The man, later identified as 28-year-old Joseph Betts, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charges against the juvenile could not be found on the Maryland Judiciary website.

Another trial was scheduled for Nov. 3, 2021, for a murder dating back nearly four years ago. The defendant, Arnell Hoskinson, 42, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery.

A plea offer was made for 25 years, however, the state and the defense are in negotiations over a counteroffer which has not been released at this time.

WMAR Baltimore previously reported that Hoskinson was one of three on trial for the alleged stabbing of Jose Gonzales-Jiminez in 2017. In 2020, Eric Dollson was sentenced to life plus 15 years and Eric Brown was sentenced to life with all but 25 years suspended. He also has to serve five years probation.

Hoskinson’s conviction was overturned.
