After the case of 43-year-old murder defendant Melvin Garcercis Tucker closed before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry G. Williams on June 30, counsel presented a motion to acquit Tucker of all charges for his alleged involvement in the murder of 42-year-old Moses McKnight. Judge Williams denied the motion and acquitted Tucker of only one charge: firearm possession with a prior felony conviction.
Jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the charges of first-degree murder, felony firearm use in a violent crime, and transportation of a firearm. Judge Williams ultimately declared a mistrial on July 1.
No further hearings are scheduled in this case at this time.
Tucker was initially charged with first- and second-degree murder, felony firearm use in a violent crime, and transportation of a firearm in connection to the deadly shooting on the 3600 block of Leverton Avenue on May 12, 2024.
