A homicide defendant will not go to trial until August 2022 due to counsels’ conflicting schedules.
Donte Brown, 39, is charged with the murder of 22-year-old Tavon Hutton on March 5 around 6:30 p.m. on the 400 block of West Saratoga Street. His charges include first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, and two counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction.
On Monday, Brown’s defense attorney rejected a plea of life, suspending all but 60 years, and five years probation for first-degree murder; and 20 years, the first five years to run concurrently, for firearm use in a violent crime.
The prosecution also dismissed an earlier case in January 2020 for which Brown was charged with two counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction, possession of firearms with drugs, and having a handgun on his person.
Due to counsels’ conflicting schedules, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled Brown for trial on Aug. 11, 2022.
