A defendant, who is charged with first-degree murder, received a trial date after rejecting a plea on Aug. 23 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn presided.
Shae-Von Edward, 22, is charged in connection to a double shooting on June 2, 2020, on the 5600 block of Haddon Avenue, killing 51-year old Roderick Daniels and injuring another victim. He is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, and having a handgun in a vehicle.
The defendant and his defense attorney, Creston Smith, rejected a plea of life, suspending all but 50 years, as well as five years probation. Edward also waived his Hick’s date, which is a defendant’s right to a speedy trial within 180 days after their first court appearance.
Edward’s trial is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.
