A homicide defendant’s competency hearing was postponed on Feb. 23 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin.
Ashley Walton, 39, is charged with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first and second-degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime, use of a deadly weapon with intent to injure and possession of firearms in connection to an incident on July 19, 2019.
During Wednesday’s hearing, defense attorney Robert Cohen requested an addendum due to confusion over Walton’s competency report.
According to WBAL-TV, officers were called at 10:45 p.m. to the 3300 block of Round Road regarding reports of shots fired, where a 17-year-old girl was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower legs, following an altercation between several women.
Walton’s next hearing is scheduled to return to mental health court on March 2 to evaluate the addendum and potentially move forward with a plea deal.
