On April 10, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland set a trial date for 19-year-old Devin Curry while he considers a plea deal.
Curry is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm as a minor and two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime in connection to an incident on April 14, 2022.
The prosecution offered Curry a plea deal of 40 years, suspending all but 30 years, with five years of probation for first-degree murder, and 20 consecutive years for firearm use in a felony violent crime. Additionally, for possession of a firearm as a minor, an additional seven consecutive years would be added.
Curry has not yet decided whether to take the deal.
Judge Copeland set a trial date for July 9, and it is expected to last for three days. Curry will appear with his attorney Jerry Rodruiguez in front of Judge Charles H. Dorsey.
According to previous reporting, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a shooting on the 6200 block of Pennington Avenue and found 52-year-old Daniel Pitts, Jr. with a fatal gunshot wound to his head.
Police used a photo array to identify Curry as a suspect.
