With a rise in Covid-19 cases, the court has suspended jury trials which caused a postponement in a 31-year-old homicide defendant’s trial on Jan. 4 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Ricky Robinson is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a violent crime in connection to an incident on Feb. 2, 2021.
Judge Phinn informed the defendant that jury trials have been suspended until Feb. 8 due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. She also said that Robinson can have a trial by judge or jury trial.
Robinson and his defense attorney, Gil Amaral, decided on having a jury trial..
Robinson’s trial is scheduled for April 18.
