Hearing for Homicide Defendant Kept Private from Public

A court hearing for a Baltimore man charged with the fatal shooting of a gospel singer was kept private from the public at Baltimore City Circuit Court on Oct. 6.

Richard Sylvester Green, 57, is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of firearm use in a violent crime, attempted first-degree murder, and first-degree assault in connection to an incident on June 10, 2020. 

According to CBS Baltimore, gospel radio host Tyra Phillips Womack, 57, was found shot outside of her home on the 2400 block of Albion Avenue. She was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

Green did not appear in court for his hearing before Judge Lynn S. Mays. Details on the defendant’s next court appearance have not been released on Maryland’s Judiciary Case Search website.
