Greenmount Avenue Murder Suspect Goes to Trial

Nasya Duvall, 25, rejected a plea offer before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on May 9, opting instead for an August jury trial. The terms of the deal were not publically disclosed.

Duvall is charged with first-degree murder and four firearm charges in connection to the murder of Dion Huff, 50, last fall.

According to charging documents, on Sept. 27, 2024, at approximately 4 p.m., Northern District officers responded to the 2500 block of Greenmount Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, they located Huff suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Huff was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in critical condition, where he was intubated and expected to demonstrate “significant neurological complications” should he recover but was pronounced dead on Oct. 5, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m. Medical examiners ruled his cause of death to be homicide.

Video surveillance footage recovered from the area captured some who appeared to be Huff walking in front of the 2500 block of Greenmount Avenue when Duvall approached him from behind, produced a firearm, and allegedly fired one round into the back of his head. A detective reviewing the footage said he recognized Duvall from previous arrests.

Officers conducted a parole and probation check on Duvall and learned he was assigned a GPS monitor. Location data from the monitor matched Duvall’s whereabouts as seen in the footage.

On Sept. 30, 2024, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Duvall for charges of attempted first-degree murder and more.

Duvall and defense attorney Justin Hollimon are set to return to court Aug. 26 for a jury trial before Judge Paul E. Alpert.
