The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) announced a fatal hit-and-run and homicide investigation in the Western District.
On Jan. 4, at approximately 8:09 a.m., a Western District patrol officer was on routine patrol in the 1200 block of W. North Avenue when he received notice that a man had been struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers 48-year-old Philip Jones suffering from multiple abrasions to his head and body. Medics responded to the scene and transported Jones to an area hospital, where he remained in critical condition.
On Jan. 7, Jones was pronounced deceased.
Following interviews with witnesses and a thorough investigation, detectives determined that the incident was not accidental and that a homicide had occurred.
