A 29-year-old Baltimore man was confirmed competent to stand trial Feb. 2 for the fatal stabbing of an aquaintence on Sep. 15, 2019.
A medical report detailing his competency was sent to counsel on Jan. 31. His defense attorney sent the report for review to another psychologist.
Cristino Flores-Perez is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure following a dispute which took place on the 100 block of Rochester Place.
Fox 45 reported that Jesse Perez and Flores-Perez were acquaintances and engaged in a verbal altercation around 2:30 a.m. the night of the incident. The dispute turned violent when Flores-Perez allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times.
Officers of the Baltimore Police Department responded to the attack and took the victim to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Flores-Perez is scheduled to return to court for his trial on June 7.
