The case of homicide defendant Darius Williams was postponed for the second time this month after a new prosecutor was assigned on Dec. 21.
Williams, 35, last appeared in reception court on Dec. 7 when Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn was informed that he obtained a new defense attorney, Linda Zeit, and required a postponement. The defendant is facing murder and deadly weapon charges for allegedly stabbing 49-year-old Eric Jones to death on the 2300 block of Westwood Avenue.
On Tuesday, a newly-assigned prosecutor told Judge Phinn that she would not have a plea offer until she reviewed “a significant amount of discovery” and provided defense counsel with said discovery.
Counsel agreed on a trial date of May 1, 2023, which is expected to last five days before Judge Lynn Stewart Mays.
