A Baltimore man charged with a fatal shooting rejected a plea offer during reception court on Sept. 15 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Corey Jones, 47, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, and three counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction.
According to CBS Baltimore, Jones is charged in connection to an incident on Oct. 20, 2020, involving the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Myiesha Marable, who died from her injuries a week later at Shock Trauma.
Judge Melissa K. Copeland listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life, suspending all but 50 years, and five years of probation for first-degree murder, and 10 years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a violent crime.
Defense attorney Shomari Taylor rejected the plea offer on his client’s behalf, and the defendant waived his Hick’s date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance.
Jones’ five-day trial is scheduled for Feb. 14, 2022.
