Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Martin P. Welch sentenced 27-year old Vincent Harris to two counts of life, suspending all but 120 years, on Oct. 7.
Harris was found guilty by jurors on May 15 of four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony firearm use, and one count of having a handgun in his vehicle in connection to the July 25, 2023 shooting, which resulted in the deaths of Di’shon Smith, 20, and Deshaun Waters, 21.
The double homicide, which occurred on the 3200 block of Hollins Ferry Road, was captured on recovered footage from commercial and home security cameras in the area that was later presented to the jury at trial.
Harris was arrested Jan. 9, 2024. Co-defendant Tyrone Payne, 25, was arrested 17 days later.
Payne was convicted and sentenced to two life terms on Aug. 21.
Smith’s mother delivered a heartfelt impact statement discussing the pain she feels in the wake of her son’s loss, while Waters’ mother pleaded for the court to prosecute Harris to the fullest extent.
Harris’ mother and grandfather gave their own statements in support of Harris’ character, shedding insight into his tumultuous upbringing and background.
Though Harris later stood and apologized to the victims’ families for their losses, he continued to maintain his innocence.
