Essex Man Charged in 2019 Homicide

A 26-year-old Essex man was arrested on June 11 for the murder of Kris McCoy in October 2019.

According to a press release, officers were called to the 6100 block of Boston Street around 4:50 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2019, after an off-duty state police officer heard gunfire. The off-duty officer saw individuals running and notified local police of the shooting.

The off-duty officer found McCoy, 30, at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and provided aid until medics arrived. McCoy was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The detectives’ identified Davon Douglass as a suspect. He is charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, manslaughter, reckless endangerment, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm.

Douglass is being held at Central Booking.
