Erdman Avenue Double Shooting Was Self-Inflicted, Police Say

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) announced an update regarding a previously reported shooting in the Eastern District. The case has been reclassified as a self-inflicted shooting and has since been removed from the yearly non-fatal shooting count.

On Dec. 19, at approximately 8:47 p.m., officers responded to the 4800 block of Erdman Avenue following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two men, ages 40 and 25, each suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators determined that the 25-year-old man accidentally discharged his weapon, resulting in a self-inflicted hand injury and causing an injury to a 40-year-old male’s thigh.

The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
