Edmondson Avenue Murder Defendant Sentenced to Life Plus 37 Years

A 47-year-old homicide defendant was sentenced to life in prison plus 37 years for a March 2023 homicide in Baltimore City Circuit Court Aug. 15.

Ricky Crenshaw was found guilty in May of the first-degree murder of 33-year-old Terence Cheatham and was also found guilty of firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, use of an assault weapon or magazine and possession of a firearm without a serial number. Cheatham was killed on March 21, 2023, on the 2100 block of Edmondson Avenue.

Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer sentenced Crenshaw to life in prison for first-degree murder, the first 20 years without the possibility of parole and a concurrent 20 years for firearm use in a felony violent crime. Consecutive to his life sentence, Crenshaw will serve 15 consecutive years, the first five years without the possibility of parole, for firearm possession with a felony conviction, 20 years for use of an assault weapon or magazine, the first 10 years without the possibility of parole and another two years for possession of a firearm without a serial number, for a total sentence of life plus 37 years.

During Crenshaw’s hearing, some of Cheatham’s family members came to express their grief, including Cheatham’s 13-year-old son, who prayed the rosary for Crenshaw.
