A 36-year-old Baltimore man was sentenced to 38 years in prison on Oct. 10 when he accepted a plea offer from the prosecution for the murder of Kennod Lamont Taylor in May 2022.
Taylor, 39, was gunned down on the 2900 block of East Preston Street on May 9, 2022, court documents state. Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers found Taylor on the corner of East Preston and North Potomac streets. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where he died from his injuries.
BPD detectives arrested Myron Watson 10 days later after identifying his getaway vehicle, a maroon Subaru Outback, that belonged to his girlfriend. According to court documents, video footage showed Watson shoot Taylor and then drive away from the scene.
On Tuesday, Watson was offered a plea of life, suspending all but 38 years, and five years of supervised probation for first-degree murder before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence R. Daniels. The defendant accepted the plea alongside his defense counsel, Donald Wright.
In addition to murder, Watson was initially charged with firearm use in a felony or violent crime, having a handgun on his person and illegal possession of a firearm.
