Drug Trafficking Homicide Case Dismissed

The trial of Jason Williams, 37, a man previously charged with first-degree murder, assault and various firearm offenses, was dismissed the morning of March 2.

According to charging documents, surveillance footage connected the defendant to the Nov. 3 2024 fatal shooting of Solomon Wise, 58, on the 4300 block of Belair Road. Williams is also reportedly involved in a drug-trafficking ring called “4200” that sells fentanyl, heroin and cocaine.

The case was previously declared a mistrial after a jury failed to reach a unanimous decision. Williams represented himself for a short stint after firing defense attorney Jerry Rodriguez after strategic differences, with Williams claiming the latter omitted crucial evidence to his defense.

Williams grew agitated several times while defending himself, raising his voice while cross-examining witnesses and accusing the state’s medical examiner of showing bias during the investigation. He also asserted that footage related to the shooting was not clear and authorities misidentified him as the shooter.

Prior to the dismissal, Williams was to be represented by public defender Gregory Fischer before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey M. Geller.
