Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled July 22 a man, who is accused of killing another man over money, for trial later this year.
Michael Atkinson, 50, is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure in relation to the stabbing of 53-year-old Michael Raub on the 1600 block of McHenry Street on July 4, 2023.
Atkinson was represented by Andrea Jaskulsky Monday because his previous public defender, Michael Cooper, retired before the case could go to trial.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, surveillance footage showed Atkinson walking up to Raub and swinging at him. There was a struggle, ending in Raub on the ground and Atkinson walking away.
According to eyewitnesses, Atkinson was shouting at Raub to pay him the money that Raub owed him. One of the witnesses was able to identify Atkinson from an array of photos.
Atkinson’s is scheduled for trial on Nov. 12.
