Delay in DNA Evidence Submission Causes Rescheduling of Murder Trial

A Baltimore man charged with murder had his trial date rescheduled Aug. 16 due to a delay in DNA evidence being submitted to the prosecutor.

Craig Carter, 41, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm use during a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction and having a handgun in a vehicle on a public road in connection to an incident on May 17, 2021.

Carter was originally set for trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Copeland, who granted the postponement and sent the case to Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn for rescheduling.

Judge Phinn set a new date for Carter’s trial, which will now begin on Feb. 13.
