A Baltimore City jury heard opening statements July 15 in the second-degree murder trial of Kamrin Brown, 24, who is accused of fatally beating Paris Savage,30, on April 5, 2025.
Brown was offered a plea agreement of 40 years in prison, with all but 12 years suspended, followed by four years of probation. Brown declined the offer, and the case proceeded to trial before Judge Michael Anthony DiPietro.
During opening statements, prosecutors alleged Brown fatally assaulted Paris Savage on April 5, 2025, in the 1500 block of North Payson Street. The prosecutor told jurors Savage stumbled out of an alley after a prior attack, where a person identified as Brown is seen on camera repeatedly punching and kicking him.
Savage was taken to a hospital, where he died the following day. Medical examiners determined the cause was from multiple blunt-force injuries, with methamphetamine use a complicating factor.
Defense attorney Roya Hanna argued Savage had already suffered severe injuries in an earlier beating by another man, after allegedly stealing from people at a drug house.
Hanna told jurors surveillance video shows Savage stumbling outside after that assault before Brown confronted him, asking, “Why did you do that? What are you doing?”
The defense argued Brown was not responsible for the injuries that caused Savage’s death.
The trial is ongoing.
