A hearing for homicide defendant Darius Williams, 35, was postponed on Dec. 6 after the prosecution informed the court of a new defense attorney who was assigned to the case.

Williams, who is accused of a fatal stabbing in June 2020, appeared in Baltimore City Circuit Court’s reception court, where an assistant state’s attorney standing in for the prosecutor in the case requested a postponement before Judge Melissa Phinn.

Defense attorney Linda Zeit was assigned to Williams’ case in August 2022, the prosecutor said and needed time to review the case.

Judge Phinn scheduled Williams to return to reception court on Dec. 21.

The defendant’s murder charge stems from an incident on June 25, 2020, when he allegedly stabbed 49-year-old Eric Jones to death on the 2300 block of Westwood Avenue after a dispute.
