Defendant Acquitted of 2020 Murder

Jermaine Sanders, 34, was acquitted on all counts related to a 2020 shooting that resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to another victim.

The shooting left Kimberly McCubbin, 30, dead on the 500 block of N. Curley Street.

Sanders, who was represented by defense attorney Martin Cohen, was initially charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and corresponding firearm violations. He has now been acquitted of these crimes.

Co-defendant Deangelo Rogers, 34, was previously found not guilty of these same charges in 2022.

Earlier this year, Sanders was found guilty of conspiracy to commit armed robbery; however, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence R. Daniels ordered a retrial after Cohen entered his appearance in the case and introduced new evidence and outstanding transcripts.

The jury reached its decision on Oct. 27 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge LaZette Ringgold-Kirksey.
