On Sept. 9, a representative from a substance abuse program requested that a convicted attempted murderer be placed under her care upon release.
Dauntae Emerson was convicted in 2008 of first-degree attempted murder and having a handgun to commit a crime.
During Friday’s hearing to address a violation of probation, Kimberly McIntosh of the organization Unlimited Bounds, a dual diagnosis substance abuse program, asked Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie Hong if the defendant could receive substance abuse and mental health services once he leaves prison. She stressed that the defendant had done well in the program before.
Prosecutors agreed to Emerson, 34, receiving treatment if the program provides housing.
Judge Hong admitted that she and the defendant have a history, and she wanted to schedule a check-in hearing on Nov. 3, 2022, to make sure that he is taking his prescribed medications.
