A 38-year-old Baltimore man, who was convicted in a non-fatal shooting in 2019, had his retrial postponed on Sept.27 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn due to him recently obtaining a new lawyer.
In October 2019, the defendant was convicted by a jury of his peers of first and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first and second-degree assault, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and having a handgun in a vehicle.
In addition, he was convicted of several charges not sent to the jury, including possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, illegal possession of ammo, and discharging firearms in connection to an incident on July 18, 2018.
According to Maryland’s Judiciary website, the defendant is currently represented by Larry Rogers and James Sweeting III.
The defendant’s retrial is scheduled on March 28, 2023, and is expected to last three days, with Judge Dorothy Wilson presiding.
