Non-Fatal Shooting

A June 5 hearing focused on the attempted murder of two people on Jan. 2, in the 2600 block of E. Federal Street. The victims, a man and woman, were occupying the backseat of a Ford Explorer when the alleged perpetrator, 25-year-old Kahlil Calloway, entered the vehicle with a firearm.
Calloway is accused of shooting the woman several times across her upper body and the man once through the hand before fleeing the scene. Baltimore police later detained him on Jan. 28.
Attorney Marci T. Johnson, who is assigned to Calloway’s defense, has yet to meet with him as the discovery of evidence phase of the trial is incomplete. Johnson noted the prosecution only sent the initial information on June 1, delaying proceedings.
The prosecution proposed life imprisonment, suspending all but 50 years, the first five without parole. Calloway rejected the offer.
The trial is set for Aug. 13 and expected to last four days before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Hope Tipton.
