Defendant in Spring Murder to Be Tried by Year’s End

A 28-year-old murder defendant received a December trial date in Baltimore City Circuit Court Oct. 4.

Timothy Knott is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction and having a handgun on his person for an April 29 murder.

The prosecution relayed a plea offer of life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years of probation for first-degree murder and two concurrent sentences of 20 years for firearm use in a felony violent crime and attempted second-degree murder. Defense attorney Staci Pipkin rejected the offer on her client’s behalf.

The prosecution had not sent all of the evidence in the case to the defense by Friday’s hearing. She said there was still outstanding body-worn camera footage and some audio files she still needed to review and redact before sharing it with the defense.

Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled Knott’s trial to begin on Dec. 16 for four days. She did not assign a judge to preside over the trial yet.
