Defendant in 2022 Saint Claire Crossing Shooting Rejects Plea, Judge Sets Trial Date

On July 17, the man charged in a 2022 non-fatal shooting on the 4000 block of Saint Claire Crossing rejected a plea before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

The prosecution presented Freddie Fordham a plea of life, suspending all but 40 years with five years of probation for attempted first-degree murder.

Fordman, 49, was represented by stand-in defense attorney Daniel Mooney for the proceeding.

Judge Phinn set the trial for Nov. 15, before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong.

According to a Baltimore Police Department news release, detectives were able to determine that a dispute between the defendant and a 45-year-old woman ended in her being shot on Nov. 29, 2022. This information was later used to arrest Fordham.

Fordham is charged with three counts each of attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a handgun in a felony violent crime, as well as reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a felony conviction, possession of a firearm in a controlled dangerous substance offense, illegal possession of ammunition, firing a gun in Baltimore City, having a handgun on his person, conspiracy to have a handgun on his person, having a handgun in his vehicle and conspiracy to have a handgun in his vehicle.
