Defendant in 2022 Dolphin Street Non-Fatal Shooting Case Rejects Plea Offer

On Aug. 26 Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial for defendant Ardie Jenkins in connection to a firearm discharging incident in 2022.

The prosecutor standing in for the assigned assistant state’s attorney, offered Jenkins a plea deal of 15 years, suspending all but five years without the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation for firearm possession with a felony conviction. The sentence would run concurrent to two years for having a handgun on his person.

Jenkins, who was represented in court by defense attorney Matthew Connell, rejected the plea. Judge Phinn set the defendant’s trial for Oct. 17 before Judge Paul E. Alpert.

Jenkins is charged with possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of firearms, discharging a gun in Baltimore City, possessing a weapon during a controlled dangerous substance crime and carrying a handgun without a license in relation to an incident that occurred on Dec. 21, 2022.

According to Jenkins’ statement of charges, on the day of the incident, police responded to reported gunshots in the alley behind the 500 block of Dolphin Street. Jenkins was identified as the shooter from video footage, but no one at the scene was found to be injured from the shooting.
