Maurice Jones, 29, was found not guilty of the murder of 23-year-old Montez Barrett on July 11.

After final testimonies and closing arguments were delivered on Friday, the jury deliberated and found Jones not guilty of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime and two counts of firearm possession with a prior felony conviction.

No verdict was rendered for four other charges, including having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a loaded handgun on his person and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle.

Previously, a forensic scientist from the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) testified that none of theek fingerprints recovered from the scene matched those of Jones. The driver of the car that Barrett was found in recanted his original statement to police about identifying Jones before deliberations started Friday.
