Defendant Charged with Firing a Gun in Baltimore Rejects Plea Offer

On June 13, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial for a 43-year-old defendant with multiple firearm possession charges. 

Prosecutors offered Ardie Jenkins a plea of 15 years, suspending all but five years without the possibility of parole with three years of supervised probation for possessing a firearm with a felony conviction, a concurrent year for firing a gun in Baltimore City, and three concurrent years for having a handgun on his person., The defendant also would have been required to register as a gun offender. Jenkins rejected the offer.

According to court documents, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on the 500 block of Dolphin Street, officers reviewed CitiWatch cameras in the vicinity of the reported discharge and located footage of the incident.

An officer advised that Jenkins was the individual that was seen discharging the firearm and placed him under arrest. 

Judge Phinn scheduled for the defendant to begin trial on Aug. 16. She appointed Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey M. Geller to the case.
